Matt Harter is a dedicated marine industry professional with three decades of experience and is proud
to share his journey rooted in a deep love for the water with the Atlantic Marine family. Growing up in
Norwalk, CT, Matt’s life has always been intertwined with the marine environment, from boating adventures to Block Island and Montauk, sailing on Long Island Sound to engaging in competitive sailboat racing. With 30 years of diverse experience in the marine industry, Matt has held various roles, including dock master, machine operator, service technician, and rigging and repair specialist. Matt’s father ran and operated marinas so Matt was driving a travel lift before his 16th birthday. This extensive background has equipped him with a unique skill set, allowing him to expertly address the needs of both recreational and professional marine enthusiasts.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Matt is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Jordan, originally from St. Croix, share a passion for boating, sailing, and love returning to the U.S. Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands for catamaran adventures. Jordan works at Kids Making It, a local non-profit here in Wilmington. Teaching valuable vocational, entrepreneurial, and life skills to at-risk, low-income, and disadvantaged youth. Together, they are proud parents to two children, Olive and Miles, both students at Porters Neck Elementary. The family enjoys spending time on the water and at the beach, fostering a love for the marine lifestyle in their children.

In addition to his work in the marine industry, Matt has been a passionate lacrosse coach at the high school, college, and youth levels, further demonstrating his commitment to community and mentorship. As Matt embarks on the next chapter of his career, he looks forward to continuing his contributions to the marine community while sharing his love for the water with all.
