Hubbard Putney, Sales Representative

My parents own a farm in Elm City and still live in the house where I grew up.  I was fortunate that my mom’s family had a beach house on Banks Channel near the Blockade Runner where we spent most summer months until I was about 12.

Since I am a beach person, I attended UNCW and graduated with an English degree in 1994.  I moved to Charleston not long after where my bride, Ashley went to school. We built two houses there and decided to move back to Wilmington in 2004 when our first daughter was born.

Ashley is from Wilmington, and grew up in Forest Hills where we live now.  Our two girls are in middle school at St. Mary’s Catholic School (Holland, 13 and Lillie, 9).

Time at Atlantic Marine:

I am in the sales department here, both new and used or brokerage boats.  I have been here for 2 1/2 years and enjoy working with a great staff that’s always supportive and helpful.  Yes, we represent some really nice boats that are the best in the industry, but it’s our positive culture and commitment to excellence that really sets us apart from the competition.

Before Atlantic Marine I was a marine finance lender which is how I met Tom Harris when he was with the Crocker Marine Group.  I’ve assisted Grady-White clients for many years and now have the opportunity to work with them from the retail side of the business.

If You Can’t Find Me in the Showroom:

When I’m not here I can usually be found with Ashley and the girls at the Surf Club on Wrightsville Beach.  We’ve been members there since 2004 and it’s great to watch them grow up at the beach just like I did many years ago.

I like to fire up the Big Green Egg and smoke ribs or a pork shoulder on Sundays during football season.

Bald Head Island is one of my favorite vacation spots and we get to go there with friends quite often.

Fun Fact:

My family was asked by Grady-White to represent the new 235 Freedom last year. We’re shown on the Grady-White website and Atlantic Marine advertisements. The girls had a great time, and always get a big smile on their faces when people stop them and mention that they’ve seen them on TV.
