Rich Inlet Day Trip

SATURDAY, JULY 15, 2017 – The Cape Fear Grady Club is headed to Rich Inlet!  Registration for this event has ended.

Pack your coolers, load up your floats and chairs, we’re headed to the island!  This is always a favorite trip among Grady owners, so we’re looking forward it again!  Rich Inlet is located on the north end of Figure 8 Island and separates Figure 8 from Lee Island.  The location offers sufficient depth for any model Grady-White and beautiful beaches.  You can walk across to the ocean or enjoy the sound side.

Below you’ll see an idea of the recommended course to get from the Intracoastal Waterway to our destination.  Since we can’t predict how crowded the beaches will be, we’ve listed three possible anchoring spots, in order of preference.  The beach at point 3 is nice, but we must use caution crossing the inlet, and follow this path.

Here’s an outline of our day:

  • 10:00am – Those leaving from Atlantic Marine will depart.  You are welcome to follow Jordan from Atlantic Marine to the island.
    • We will meet on the dock house porch for any folks that have questions about navigation.
  • 10:30am – We will arrive at Rich Inlet.
    • Jordan will be glad to help you get anchored.
    • We will be on a rising tide.
    • Remember that a stern anchor will be helpful, so you may want to consider having one on the boat.
  • 11:30am – We will eat lunch.  Atlantic Marine will provide Bojangles Chicken and Biscuits.  Please bring anything else you would like to have and your drink of choice.
  • 12:30pm – High tide
  • Depart any time, or spend the day with us!
