Grady Club: Beaufort by Boat

Back by popular demand…the Cape Fear Grady Club is headed to Beaufort by Boat!  This year, we’re excited to announce that we will be staying in the all new Beaufort Hotel and docking next door at The Boathouse at Front Street Village.  Building on our 2017 trip to Beaufort, below is a look at a look at our long weekend.  If there’s one thing our club members have learned on these overnight trips, it’s bring friends!  Club members who invite another couple, even if they aren’t boaters, have the best time!   Your friends and family are always welcome to join you on your Grady for any Cape Fear Grady Club trip!

FRIDAY:  Friday morning, we’ll depart from the Atlantic Marine docks at 9:00am and head to Beaufort via the Intracoastal Waterway, passing through Camp Lejeune, past Swansboro, along the Bogue Sound, past the Morehead City Waterfront and on through the NC State Port.  We will arrive in Beaufort about 1:00pm and travel up Taylor’s Creek.  You can stop here and grab lunch, or head on straight to the hotel, which is just over two miles up the creek from Downtown Beaufort.  We’ll be staying at the all new Beaufort Hotel and docking next door at The Boathouse.  Hotel staff will be on hand to help haul your luggage from your Grady to the hotel.  Relax in your room or by the pool, reserve a golf cart and head downtown to shop, or enjoy cocktails on your Grady or at the waterfront restaurant on the hotel property.  At 5:00pm, enjoy a reception for all club members and guests at the Beaufort Hotel Pavilion with hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and cocktails.  Uber downtown for dinner or enjoy a relaxing evening around the hotel property.

SATURDAY:  Your choice!  Join some of the group and head to Shackleford Banks in your Grady for the day, anchor up, and enjoy the wild horses as the walk up and down the strand.  Or, sleep in, enjoy shops and dining in downtown Beaufort by golf cart, water taxi, or Uber.  Dinner on your own.

SUNDAY:  Return to Wrightsville Beach with the group at 9:00am or sleep in and return at your leisure.

Friday, September 27, 2019:

9:00am – Depart Atlantic Marine docks
1:00pm – Arrive in Beaufort, dock at the The Boathouse (Or stop downtown for lunch)
2:00pm – Get checked in at Beaufort Hotel
5:00pm – Reception hosted by Atlantic Marine at the Beaufort Hotel Pavilion
7:00pm – Dinner at the restaurant of your choice

Saturday, September 28, 2019:

9:00am – Optional – Depart Beaufort for Shackleford Banks, return anytime
Anytime – Enjoy the shops and waterfront downtown
Anytime – Refuel if needed for the trip home
Anytime – Dinner at the restaurant of your choice

Sunday, September 29, 2019:

9:00am – Depart Beaufort docks for Wrightsville Beach
1:00pm – Arrive Wrightsville Beach

Here’s what we’ll do to make this trip fun and enjoyable:

  • Lead the group to and from Beaufort on a beautiful ride along the ICWW at approximately 32MPH
    • We will provide tide info, bridge clearance and opening schedules.  If your boat requires an opening, we will not leave you behind.
    • There will be opportunities to use the head on your boat, we will slow down occasionally for this at bridges and “No Wake” zones
  • Help you get your Garmin electronics setup to record a track on our way up, making navigation home easier if you decide to run ahead or behind the group.
  • Put together a list of restaurants with menu choices and phone numbers.  (Coming soon)
  • Make time and suggest a place to purchase fuel for the run home.  (Coming soon)
  • Provide you with a suggested list of items to bring with you.  (Coming soon)
  • Provide you with plenty of free time to enjoy Beaufort!
  • Answer any of your questions…or try our best!
  • Book all of the dockage and hotel rooms.

  • Make sure your maintenance is up to date with our service department; have any issues corrected now – [email protected]
    • If you must book service close to the departure, please let me know so that I can be certain your repairs are completed in time.
  • Watch your e-mail or check this page for updates.
  • Invite any friends that want to make the trip.  Boaters that bring friends, family, or another couple on the trip always have the best time!
