Grady Club: Learn the Cape Fear River with Jordan – June 2024

Do you find navigating the Cape Fear River intimidating? Maybe you’d just like to brush up on your navigation knowledge, or simply lay some tracks in your GPS to make it easier next time you hit the Cape Fear River with your family. If this sounds like you, join us for a day of learning the Cape Fear River with Jordan!

Jordan will lead the small group of boats south from Wrightsville Beach into the River at Snow’s Cut and on to Southport. We’ll pick up more club members along the way and head over to Bald Head Island for a cup of coffee.

We’ll depart Bald Head and head north in the Cape Fear. Jordan will explain aids to navigation, why the mark sequence switches in the river, range finders, how to hail a marina on the radio, and how to avoid Sunny Point Ocean Military Terminal.

When we arrive in downtown Wilmington, we’ll have lunch and Jordan will answer questions. After lunch we’ll head back to Wrightsville Beach. This event is limited to ten boats due to the educational aspect.
